Delta Overview
My wife and I are huge fans of Delta products and we use them all over our house. Our showerheads, bathtub faucets, and toilets are all Delta-made.
We renovated our bathrooms three years ago and went with almost entirely Delta products. They’re the perfect blend of high quality + design + price.
Delta was founded in 1954 and is now a subsidiary of the Masco Family Corporation.
Over the years, Delta has produced many faucets offering simplicity, great functionality, durability, and elegance.
The driving belief behind Delta is that water has the power to transform the way people feel every day. They create simple solutions to bring a great change in the human view.
Delta has a history of innovation in the plumbing and faucet industry. They’ve had advancements like Touch2O®, MagnaTite® Docking, and H2Okinetic® Technologies. These technologies have consistently improved the function and performance of Delta faucets.
Pros and Cons of Delta
Pros
- Affordable – Delta carries a line of faucets that go for as low as $70 and can go as high as several hundred.
- Install – We’ve been using Delta products in our house and love how easy they are to install.
- High tech – Delta’s Essa model is one of the best touchless kitchen faucets on the market.
Cons
- Complex – Delta actually has three different sub-brands within their product line: Delta, Brisso, and Peerless. This can make it tricky to actually know which one to get.
My wife and I are huge fans of Delta products and we use them all over our house. Our showerheads, bathtub faucets, and toilets are all Delta-made.
Glacier Bay Overview
Glacier Bay is one of the more popular brands in the US. They are actually owned by Home Depot and are one of their leading in-house brands. You can buy Glacier Bay faucets and products at other stores as well.
The number one thing that sets Glacier Bay apart from other brands is their affordability.
Glacier Bay was established to be an affordable brand for home owners, large scale residential housing, and construction companies.
Glacier Bay is the most budget friendly faucet brand on the market. The faucets are high quality, have technological functions like TurboSpray and FastMount. The faucets come in a variety of finishes, models, and design options to fit any bathroom. These faucets are a great purchase if you’re on a budget.
However, they aren’t the best faucets out there. If you are looking for a good value purchase, these are a great option.
Pros and Cons of Glacier Bay
Pros
- Affordable – Glacier Bay was created as a budget-friendly alternative to some of the household name brands. It’s the cheapest brand in the industry that is still quality.
- That’s it. We don’t have any more pros. It’s a budget brand and that’s the only quality worth highlighting.
Cons
- Less durable – These faucets are made in China and Taiwan and simply aren’t as high of quality as other brands that are American or German made.
- Boring design – The faucets made by GB don’t look bad, but they just don’t look like anything special.
- Limited selection – Glacier Bay only has around 180 total models to pick from. This sounds like plenty, but it’s actually not much compared to other brands.
Delta vs Glacier Bay: Feature Comparisons
We’ve done a deep dive on Glacier Bay vs Delta features to compare for you.
1. Price
Glacier Bay is much more affordable. It’s not even a close contest. Glacier Bay was created to reach the budget-end of the market.
They do a great job at trying to help a portion of the industry that can’t afford more expensive faucets like Delta.
I just want you to be fully aware that there is a tradeoff in price for the quality that you get.
Delta
Delta tends to be on the more affordable side. The vast majority of their faucets are $200-350.
Delta mainly focuses on budget-priced faucets that offer a range of functionality without breaking the bank.
However, they also operate a luxury brand known as Brizo faucets. Brizo faucets can compete with the best and are a great alternative to cheaper Delta faucets if you have the cash to spare.
Glacier Bay
Honestly, the only advantage Glacier Bay has over Delta is the price. GB was created as a budget option. If you’re struggling to make ends meet and need to replace your faucet, then you should go with Glacier Bay.
The majority of their kitchen faucets fall in the $80-120 range while the average bathroom faucet can be purchased for around $80.
I might sound overly negative on Glacier Bay and I’m honestly not. If it’s what you can afford, you should buy one and be happy about it. Home Depot makes good products.
2. Design
Both brands have a number of different types of faucets to pick from. Delta simply has more models so they are more likely to have options that are right for you. They also put more emphasis on appearance and aesthetic than Glacier Bay.
Glacier Bay’s faucets look very basic. I don’t really know how else to describe them. It’s like the ‘Amazon Basics’ version of other brands.
Delta
When it comes to design, Delta truly offers anything you could want. In the kitchen, they’ve got all the standard stuff: pull-down, pull-out, single handle, wall mount, etc. You can get them touch activated as well. If you want it with a built-in sprayer or soap dispenser, Delta has you covered.
The same is true for their bathroom faucets. You can get a single-hole or centerset. You can get pull-down or wall mounted.
Glacier Bay
Home Depot has done a good job at making Glacier Bay a faucet brand that will fit anyone’s needs. When it comes to the different types of faucets, they have you covered. You can get any kind of faucet hole size or spacing that you need: single, double, three hole, or even four hole faucet arrangements.
You can get a variety of different mounts or arrangements. They’ve got wall mounts, deck mounts, centerset, widespread, etc.
While they do have all of the options you might need, the actual design or appearance leaves something to be desired.
They honestly just look bland. If you go to your local home depot, none of them are going to be particularly eye-catching.
But if you’re trying to replace a faucet in your rental apartment, you may not care about eye catching. You just want something that won’t break the bank.
3. Technology
Delta is the real winner when it comes to faucet technology. Both brands actually offer touch technology in both the bathroom and the kitchen.
For a budget brand, Glacier Bay really does try hard to implement tech functions to help their faucets perform better. At the end of the day though, Delta puts way more resources and effort into incorporating technology.
Delta
Delta is one of the most innovative companies when it comes to plumbing products. They’re constantly trying to iterate and find ways to make their faucets even better.
- Touch 2O Technology – Requires a simple touch on the faucet to open and close the water. They offer touch-activated or touchless bathroom faucets. Some other brands only offer that for their kitchen products.
- MagnaTite® Docking – Helps keep their faucets docked in place when not being used. Lots of faucets have issues where the faucet or sprayer will pull out and have a hard time staying docked in place. We have an old Moen faucet in our kitchen right now that needs to be replaced and has docking issues.
- ShieldSpray technology – Creates a powerful jet of water for easier cleaning purposes with less splash mess.
- VoiceIQ – These faucets have voice activation technology. They are one of the only brands right now to offer this.
Glacier Bay
Glacier Bay is a budget faucet brand that still tries to have some technological features built in. They aren’t industry leaders by any means, but they do their best to keep up. I honestly appreciate their desire to make quality products for budget-minded buyers.
They actually offer touchless technology on both their kitchen and bathroom faucets. This is more than some of the big brands can say.
They do have some exclusive technological features:
- TurboSpray – Provides focused water columns with 30% more power than your standard pull-down faucet.
- FastMount – Mounting system that helps make installation quicker and easier
It’s worth mentioning that most of the best kitchen faucet brands have similar technologies to these.
4. Finishes and colors
When it comes to faucet finishes, Delta has more than any other brand that I’ve reviewed or tested! They have about 8 options more than Glacier Bay to pick from.
If you want more variety or color, they are your best bet.
Delta
Delta has an industry leading number of color and finish options to pick from. They have 15 options for kitchen faucets and 12 for bathroom faucets.
A number of their finishes can also come with a Lumicoat coating. This helps repel liquid and keep the faucets cleaner for longer. It helps combat water spots and stains – making it easier to clean.
Glacier Bay
When it comes to finish options, Glacier Bay is right in the middle of the pack. They offer 9 different bathroom faucet finishes to pick from and 11 finishes for their kitchen faucets. They have a couple of two-tone options as well that we didn’t include here. If you like the look of matte finishes, Glacier Bay has you covered.
5. Models
Delta has a combined total of almost 650 faucets to pick from. Glacier Bay is more limited and they only have around 189. If you want a variety of options and different types of faucets or mount styles, Delta is the brand for you.
Delta
Delta has 225 kitchen faucet options to pick from and a staggering 400+ bathroom faucet models available. This is a testament to their innovation, creativity, and laser focus on creating faucets.
Glacier Bay
Glacier Bay has a limited selection of different models to pick from. They have 113 different bathroom faucets to pick from and only 76 different kitchen faucet options. This total of 189 is on the lower end compared to most brands.
6. Warranty
Every faucet company we’ve researched or tested has the same warranty.
Delta
Delta provides a lifetime limited warranty on their faucets for regular wear and tear of the faucet. They have a separate warranty for the electronic parts. This warranty cannot be transferred from one owner to the next. It’s only good for the original owner.
Glacier Bay
The Glacier Bay warranty is a limited lifetime warranty. This means that the product is guaranteed against manufacturer defects but not against everyday wear and tear. It’s good to know that you have this kind of warranty on a product. It protects your purchase and gives you confidence in the product.
Final Verdict: Glacier Bay vs Delta Faucets
Delta is known for creating amazing faucets and shower heads with modern styles, technology, and design. Their products are also durable and perform well over time. I’m confident that if you purchase a faucet from Delta, you are going to love it.
We love our bathroom, kitchen, and shower heads that we’ve gotten from Delta.
I honestly can’t say the same for Glacier Bay. They are just a lower quality brand. But if you’re on a budget, then you should feel comfortable buying one!
If we had to pick one brand to go with, we’d go with Delta. But it really depends on what you’re looking for.
- Delta – Best for touch-on faucets and cheaper options, and easy install. They’re also slightly more affordable.
- Glacier Bay – Best for people on a budget or people trying to buy faucets for residential or commercial spaces.
I hope this Delta vs Glacier Bay comparison helped you decide which brand is right for you!
